2022 World Cup to be held on the Moon

FIFA have announced the QATAR 2022 World Cup will be held on the moon.

“It has become clear to us that holding a World Cup in the summer in Qatar is impractical,” said FIFA chief Sepp Blatter.

“We considered a number of options such as Qatar annexing Wales, travelling back in time, and changing the rules of football to simply award whoever has the most money with the cup.”

“But it became apparent that the only sensible option open to us was to hold the tournament on the moon.”

It is understood that Qatar will provide stadiums on the moon using their unique workplace practise of paying desperately poor Nepalese people thirty pence a day and making it illegal for them to quit.

It is unknown whether the workers will be provided with spacesuits.

The move has been condemned by many supporters of the game.

“It’s almost as if FIFA don’t care about the fans,” said supporter spokesperson Terry Doyle.

“I mean, I don’t know how much it is normally to get to the moon, but it’s a lot, and then they’ll put the prices up because they always do.”

“And there’ll be no atmosphere.”

However, Mr Doyle was more positive when he was reminded that the moon would be entirely silent.

“Oh, so we won’t have to hear that bloody brass band playing the Great Escape? Bring it on.”
