Chris Huhne sentenced to 8 months of writing his memoirs

Former cabinet minister Chris Huhne has been sentenced to eight months of writing a book that will detail his career and the build up to him being exposed as an enormous bullshitter.

The former Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change was handed the book-writing opportunity by Mr Justice Sweeney after he admitted to perverting the course of justice.

Speaking to The Times ahead of sentencing, Mr Huhne said, “Writing a book is a fairly small bit of the total penalty.

“When I’m released I’ll also have to appear on the news to talk about what recently imprisoned MPs can expect in jail.”

Asked about the imminent autobiography of his former cabinet colleague, Prime Minister David Cameron said: “It’s a reminder that no-one, however high and mighty, is out of the reach of a premature book deal.”

Mr Huhne’s ex-wife Vicky Pryce, who was also sentenced to eight months of hard literature for perverting the course justice, asked for her privacy to be respected.

“I hope that once I’ve finished my book, I’ll be left to get on with telling my side of the story in a Sunday newspaper.”

“I want to be given the time and space to rebuild my life and also to appear on Celebrity Big Brother.”

And a spokesman for Liberal Democrat leader Nick Clegg said: “As Nick has said, this is a personal tragedy for Chris, Vicky and their families that will probably make a half-decent TV drama.

“Hopefully on BBC 4 and not Channel 5.”
