U2 break world record for highest grossing tour – what do you think?

U2’s current worldwide tour has become the highest grossing in history, beating the record previously set by The Rolling Stones from 2005-2007.

The smug Irish rockers passed the $558 million (£341m) world record following their concert in Sao Paolo, Brazil, on 10th April.

We sent our reporters out onto the street to find out what you thought about Bono and the boys delivering the highest grossing tour of all time.

Woman on the Street “Does he talk between the songs, because if he agrees not to I’m pretty sure they could get to a billion.”

Mike Smith, Accountant

Man on the Street “I think it’s great, I’d heard that Bono chap was down to his last £120m.”

Sharon Downing, Elvis Impersonator

Man on the Street “Just think of all the starving children that this money will help.  Wait, what?”

Joe Smalls, PR Executive

Woman on the Street

“Are you sure that record is correct? I went to the X Factor tour last year and there seemed to be an awful lot of people attending that?”

Doris Williams, A&R at EMI

Happy Man

“I don’t suppose they’re due to play Tripoli any time soon are they?”

Leo Davies, Music Fan
